MRC responds to flooding incident in Male’ City due to heavy rain

Emergency Response volunteers from the MRC Male’ City Office were mobilized to support the response efforts in Male’ City in coordination National Disaster Management Authority and other response agencies in efforts to assist local households and migrant accommodations affected by heavy rain and flooding.

On Friday 12th January 2024, Emergency Response volunteers from the MRC Male’ City Office were mobilized to support the response efforts in Male’ City, in coordination with National Disaster Management Authority and other response agencies, due to the heavy rain and flooding.

       

The response efforts were carried out with 12 volunteers supporting the response for over 12 hours. MRC teams also provided support to the established Emergency Operations Center, helping manage 485 requests. In addition, MRC ERT’s conducted 40 rapid assessments and supported the temporary relocation of 81 individuals across 14 households.  

As a way of increasing the access of migrant members of the community to emergency assistance, MRC also disseminated information on the Migrant Support Helpline 1458, working to ensure that no one gets left behind.
